I'm Ok I think

What's healthy anyway?

Is it low fat, low GI or organic?

We’re considering alternative forms of exercise in our quest to stay healthy. Fifty three per cent of women think yoga or tai chi can be just as good for you as walking and jogging. Only 45% of men agree with them, however. When it comes to food, though, alternative isn’t necessarily better. Australians are evenly split on whether organic natural food is healthier than normal natural food, with 37% coming down on each side of the argument. The rest aren’t sure.

Eye asked what was important in choosing healthy food. Fat content still leads the way, with 63% of Aussies keeping an eye on their fat consumption. This is followed by the usual suspects – sugar content (54%), cholesterol (52%) and salt content (47%).  Organic foods were the least of people’s concerns and ‘all natural ingredients’ ranked well down the list.
